Hazel's POV
I ignored Lia’s taunting chuckles while I racked my brain furiously for something to say. An explanation—something valid to give as an excuse why I was staring at the Alpha that way. Oh my goodness, this was embarrassing.
"Did you get a good look?"
"Shut up, Lia."
"I guess you did, huh?"
"This is all your fault."
"Hey, no shifting blame. How is it my fault?"
"You made me look at him."
That statement didn’t just sound stupid. It sounded like a whiny toddler trying to blame the parent for allowing her to lose her favorite toy.
"Desperate to apportion blame, now are we?"
"Now I don’t know what to tell the Alpha. He’s looking at me expectantly."
"You want me to tell you what excuse to give him?"
