Chapter 42. Reach Out

"No?" I ask with a raised eyebrow. "How you talk to other people and how you talk to me are very different. You make it look like it’s too hard to be around me, like I’m the one who makes things hard between us." He huffs and licks the back of his tooth when I tell him.

"Nash, I mean what I say, and I am who I say I am. I treat you the same way you treat me, but when I first moved in, I worked hard to get along with you. I liked the room, so I wanted things to work out. But if I had known you would treat me like this, I would have never moved in here."

"How do you feel?" He says it again with this surprised tone. "Chloe, I thought I did you a lot of nice things. Not the least of which was last weekend-"

"Oh, get lost!" When I yell at him, he steps back. I’ve never talked to him like that before. Nash, you can’t treat me like a person for one day and then act like you did me a favor. When you are nice to me
