“But it would solve our problem,” Betty replied, narrowing her eyes at me before she tightened her jaw. “But let’s hear what you want us to do, what do you suggest that we do?”
“Yeah, should we continue to let him keep playing us for fools?” The smaller woman crossed her arms, her lips twitching into a small frown. “Betty is right, guys like that only stop when they’re six feet under.”
I rubbed my temples, feeling a headache coming on. This was turning into a nightmare, and I was smack in the middle of it. “Look, I get it. He’s a scumbag, but killing him will just land you both in solitary—or worse.”
The room buzzed with murmurs of agreement and dissent. The crowd was hanging onto every word, some entertained by the drama, others genuinely invested.
