Chapter 286. In Bed

Storm moved closer, his eyes narrowing with concern. “Rue, it’s okay. You’re safe now.” His voice was soft, but I could see the tension in his jaw, the guilt etched in his expression. 

I tried to touch my touch by raising my hand to it. It hurt a bit when I touched it and when I tried to speak again, it was the same. 

I think Zach may have noticed what was going on because he then explained, “Rue, I know you’re a bit scared right now but all you need is rest. Your voice will come back. Whoever shot you used a special bullet and it had poison coursing through you in minutes.” 

“Especially when you were running to escape, it made it spread a lot faster,” Mark added. 

I scoffed and looked away from them. I was still pissed at them because they chose not to believe me and stand by me when I needed them the most. I ran my hand through my hair and sighed. 

I looked away from them and locked eyes with Storm, who looked a lot like his little b
