I blinked in surprise, staring down at the empty glass in my hand. How had I finished it without even realizing it? The bitter taste had grown on me, or maybe it was the buzz of excitement around me that made it easier to swallow. 

For the first time, in like, forever, I felt like I belonged. I mean, back at the orphanage, there was a sense of belonging, but not the good kind. This one here, that was the good kind, and I loved it.
