Chapter 59. At the Border

Mark gave me a sympathetic look, nodding slightly. “You’re not alone in that,” He said, offering a reassuring smile before turning back around in his seat. 

I glanced over at Zach, who remained lost in his own world. Again, I wondered what he could be thinking about. Was he thinking about his parents? The brutal way they had been taken from him by Darco? 

Or was he planning every possible outcome of the confrontation, mentally preparing himself for whatever the dark Alpha would throw at him? Was he thinking about revenge? Was he thinking of making the guy pay in the worst way possible? 

I mean—that would explain why he was clenching his fists and the hard look on his face. I wanted to ask him but I was nervous, if not scared. I did not want him to yell at me, or talk to me in a tone that would make me overthink for the rest of the drive.

So yeah, I just kept to myself.

The closer we got to the border, I started to feel something. It was the same
