Chapter 95. Acceptance

The silence that lingered after Alpha Zach had spoken was so loud. I could even hear my heavy breathing. The tension in the room was so thick that a knife could cut right through it. 

Elder Robert narrowed his eyes at me and then nodded, a small forced smile setting on his lips. He the turned his attention back to the alpha and replied, “Very well. Whatever you say, Alpha Zach. You are our leader and we respect your decision. We wish you the best of luck and our support.” 

“But Robert,” The female elder tried to stop him. 

“Let it go,” He said to her, causing her to sigh in frustration. I was surprised that he had not resorted to shouting to get his point across or to get the alpha to change his mind. But I had a bad feeling about all of this, I felt like he had an idea, something devious in his mind that he had in planning. 

“Okay,” She replied in a breathy way. Then she turned her attention to the alpha and said, “We support you, our alpha.”&nb
