Chapter 9
Narrator’s POV
Quinn sat with her elbow firmly placed on her jaw. She sat in a way that would make it seem like she was thinking of something important rather than just sitting.
As time passed slowly, Lucas checked the progress of the boiling water in the cooker. There wasn’t much progress. He hissed and returned to walking around in circles, thinking about what had happened between him and me.
Lucas stopped walking and faced Quinn. He looked at her sternly before turning away to face the boiling water, but Quinn noticed his look. She saw how he stared at her. She noticed how he had been looking at her ever since the incident with Laura.
“It is not my fault that I am more good-looking than Laura,” Quinn said to Lucas in a way that made it seem as if she didn’t say anything at all.
Lucas tried to ignore her, but she opened her mouth again to remind him about how good-looking she was.
“Can you just shut your mouth?” Lucas asked in a way that sounded
