Chapter 10

Laura’s POV

I found myself staring at the ceiling as I stretched myself as far as I could on the bed that I was lying on. I was feeling very tired—extremely tired to the point that moving my legs felt like a difficult task to accomplish.

Once I was out of bed, I looked up as if searching for something that was supposed to be at my window but wasn’t there. Vince noticed what I was doing and came to where I was. He was wearing a smile that I could not easily place anywhere.

“You will be fine,” Vince assured me. “You will be fine, Laura.”

I looked at Vince and touched him gently on the cheeks. “I don’t think I am going to be fine,” I said to him. “A lot of things have been going on in my mind, and it doesn’t seem to be getting better with each passing day. I want love, Vince. But it seems as if there is no one out there willing to give me love.”

Vince moved closer to me and touched me gently. “I can give you love, Laura.”
