Chapter 52. Hopeful Day
As soon as she was certain he was out of the hall, she wiped her mouth with the back of her hand, wincing at the sting in her ribs.
Her body throbbed and ached in too many places to count, but her hunger screamed louder.
She dragged herself to the tray of food in the corner, eyeing it with suspicion.
She leaned close and sniffed, checking for any suspicious scent of poison. Assuming it was all safe, she shrugged and took a bite.
“Well, they cook good, at least.”
She muttered and then took another bite.
And then the hunger took over.
She ate fast, swallowing large mouthfuls, barely chewing it like she had been starved for ages.
She ate and ate, then she remembered the pregnant woman she had interacted with.
Her hand paused, spoon halfway to her lips.
