Chapter 95. Until I Said So
The evening atmosphere was cool yet suffocating for me.
Then suddenly, I heard a soft, trembling voice—someone sobbing.
My heart skipped.
Emily.
I tried to get up at once.
My head throbbed dully, but my body felt lighter, almost detached. I slipped out of bed slowly, my bare feet brushing the cold marble floor, and followed the sound.
It led me to the balcony.
There she was—standing by the railing, her back to me, her shoulders shaking.
She was holding Daniel’s clothes to her chest—the same shirt he had worn yesterday.
“Daniel…” she cried.
My heart clenched painfully at the sight. Seeing her—once so strong—now quietly breaking, tore something inside me.
I turned away, unable to bear it. Seeing her mourn Daniel, the same boy I had fallen in love with, who had grown into a handsome young man, killed for nothing…
