Chapter 18
Winter’s POV
Gracefully dismounting from his horse, he helped me sit on it. Sitting on the back of a horse for the first time felt incredibly strange to me. Lordan got on behind me, his body pressed against mine, his arms cradling me as he took hold of the reins. I felt trapped, and his closeness made me uncomfortable.
The horse started to move, and the ride was a bit rocky.
“It was a lovely night we had yesterday,” he broke the initial silence, but I simply stared straight ahead. I had secretly hoped for an apology for what had happened so far, but I realized it was a futile expectation to think Lordan would ever be apologetic about what he had done. Moreso, I was growing very anxious that Lordan’s interference might ruin the plans Lucas and I had made.
His smile came close to my ear. He whispered, “I can’t wait for tonight.”
I was coiled with disgust at the mere thought of being in the same bed with him again.
