Chapter 19
Winter’s POV
I stood there with my horror, knowing no bounds as I watched Wiles’ heart clenched in Lucas’s fists. The blood dripped from it to his hands, a gruesome sight that made my stomach churn. I couldn’t tear my eyes away.
My eyes drifted to the floor, and there lay Wiles, lifeless and pale. There was a fast-growing pool of blood around her, staining the once pristine carpet. I wondered to myself how Wiles couldn’t have seen what was coming for her despite being able to read others.
“Lucas, why did you do that?” I asked, managing to find some words in my throat.
“Why did you kill her?”
“Leave from here immediately,” he said in a bone-chilling tone.
I remained frozen on the spot, stuttering, “You shouldn’t have done that. I was going to negotiate a—”
“I knew very well Wiles was going to be trouble for our plan. Your negotiations were never going to work, and she was an obstacle I had to remove as soon as possible.”
