Chapter 49
Lucas’s POV
The guards, perhaps fearing another assault on their king, began to close in once more, but Lordan raised a commanding hand, ordering them to stay back.
I tried to land another blow, but this time, he effortlessly stopped my fist with his palm and the pressure he exerted on my arm was excruciating, and I felt my bones strain under the force.
“You have a lot to answer for,” I hissed through gritted teeth.
He retaliated with a strange force, kicking me harshly away, and I landed on my back against the wall with a jarring impact. The shockwaves ran through my spine, and I found myself gasping for breath as I sat there, coughing in pain.
He strode toward me with palpable rage and seized me by the collar, lifting me off the ground. His grip was strangling, and I struggled to breathe.
“I thought I told you to mind your own business,” he seethed.
Despite being caught in his vice-like grip, I couldn’t back down.
