Dorra’s POV
The look on his face changed from confusion to skepticism as I revealed the truth.
“You’re my mate,” I repeated.
“I didn’t get that,” he retorted with a touch of mockery in his voice.
“Don’t make me sound stupid,” I snapped back.
“I’m not joking around, Lucas. You, and only you, are my chosen mate.”
He scoffed in an even more dismissive tone.
“You, Dorra, or Vivian, or whatever you are, are not my mate. We’re only joined because of the schemes of you and Lordan. There’s nothing more between us.”
I took his hand and placed it on the left side of my chest.
“Do you feel nothing?”
“Can’t you sense the bond we share?”
He withdrew his hand as if I had burned him and answered coldly, “I feel absolutely nothing for you, and I never will. Besides, if we really were fated as mates, I’d feel something too, but there’s nothing.”
