Eliza bowed herself to the floor, and I dismissed the guard behind her with a nod. It was just the two of us now. I leaned in closer and said, “I suppose you know why you’re here.”
She stammered nervously, “No, Your Highness.”
I let out an exasperated sigh and crouched beside her on the floor.
“You see, Eliza, I’ve been hearing something lately that I don’t want to believe, but it’s been bothering me. What I need from you now is to verify this information for me. Are you ready?”
Eliza remained silent.
“Winter is seeing someone else.”
“Don’t look so surprised; I know you’re aware of it.”
