Alex's POV

The fight had ended, but the assassins or hunters who had targeted me chose to take their own lives rather than be captured. Their bodies disintegrated into ashes, leaving no trace behind. It became clear to me that this place was no longer safe, and I grew increasingly concerned for the safety of those close to me. My enemies could use them as leverage, and I couldn't bear the thought of them being dragged into my chaotic circumstances.

Feeling the weight of this burden, I made the difficult decision to distance myself from Kyle, Mariah, and my mate, Nathan. As long as I had enemies, they would never be truly safe by my side. With a heavy heart, I resolved to leave and find a place where they would be out of harm's way.

I fled to the library, seeking solace and guidance from Janet. I poured out everything to her, explaining the bigger picture of my actions and the danger that awaited those around me if I continued to involve them.
