Chapter 31
Under the faint moonlight seeping in, Isla watched the soft rise and fall of Leo's breath. He was lying on his back with the sheets stopping at his waist. She considered pressing a pillow against his face and watching him kick in a struggle.
She blinked the thought away and drove her gaze to the beveled window. The silvery sliver of the moonlight made her think about the Mancini family's grapevines. And the past that surrounded the entire household.
Putting up with Leo and his family was suffocating her. Breaking her spirit. Killing her resolve to stay sane amid the madness going on in her life. It was irritating to watch them move on with their lives like nothing had happened. They deserved to suffer. They deserved to pay for all they had done. And she would spend the last drop of her blood making them pay.
She stared at Leo again and scoffed. Her mind spawned thoughts about Emma. A girl whose dreams were killed by the incident of her brother's deat
