Chapter 71. The Slap
Anna stormed through the hallway, angry about what she had just discovered, her heels clicking sharply against the marble floor.
When Charles stepped in front of her, trying to gently block her path, she shoved him aside without hesitation. He didn't even know if to try harder to stop her so he just followed her in after she threw the glass doors of the conference room open, eyes whipping toward the entrance.
Anna marched in, face flushed with anger, and her gaze locked on Lucien. Charles, standing by the window now, instinctively moved forward, but she shoved him aside again with a force that sent his shoulder hitting the glass wall.
Lucien didn’t stand. He sat still, eyes on her, the muscles in his jaw tightening but her pounding hard against his ribs, pounding so hard he could hear every beat.
