Chapter 29
The air smelled of smoked meat and filet mignon with hints of rosemary and salt. Dana breathed it in, inhaling Tasia’s scent until it filled her lungs and dominated her mind.
“What are you thinking about?” asked Tasia as she stared out over the water.
The werewolf was holding a hot dog of all things, some brilliant concoction of lamb with onion crisps sprinkled along the top. Officially, they were supposed to be wandering Lucerne while pretending to be on a date in case Lily or Ingrid needed backup.
However, to Dana, this was the real deal. The two of them were allowed to just be, to wander the streets without fleeing from danger, or avoiding demons and vampires. Both had started their relationship from a place of self-preservation and something had blossomed on the battlefield.
