Chapter 32
“Bash your fucking face in,” Ingrid replied. “Based on how you wear your hair, I bet it’ll probably be an improvement.”
Jenny threw her head back and laughed. Her mouth was impossibly wide, as if her lips extended nearly to her ears. “We’ve got a live one,” she declared, shaking her hands at the sky. Jenny cocked her head to one side so violently that Ingrid heard the bones inside of it crack. “It’ll be a real shame if I have to take you apart today!”
“Lily and Dana will be upset,” said Ingrid.
“Like I care.” Jenny took a step forward.
“What about Mike?”
The ghost shrugged and took another step forward. “He’ll forgive me.”
“What about… um…” Ingrid held up the rock. “We don’t have to do this.”
“Oh, but we do.” Jenny grabbed the hem of her shirt and yanked it down to reveal what looked like a yellow paper star drawn along the top of her breast. “You see, I’m the sheriff in this town and I need to see what kind of outlaw you are.”
