Chapter 2

"How is she?" Leon inquired as soon as he walked into the room.

"Don't be concerned; it's just a common illness. I gave Celine some medicine to help her cool down. So, make sure she gets enough rest," Erza says as she puts her equipment in her bag.

Leon sat on the bed and nodded.

"Your wife goes through a lot, so be gentle next time!" Erza makes a remark before leaving the room.

Leon clenched his fist and locked his gaze on Celine, who was fast asleep. Her skin was dull and sweaty.

Leon realized he messed up when he remembered what had happened earlier. Even so, he was irritated every time he remembered seeing her outside.

"It's entirely your fault..." Leon murmurs to himself as he lies down beside Celine. I'm not sure how long he'll be in that position. The only thing that matters is Celine in his arms.

Then Leon recalls the month since Celine became his wife.

(FLASHBACK)

"You have the ability to do everything except leave the house... "Do you get it?" Leon says as he walks into the large living room.

Celine did not respond, instead concentrating on the household.

Celine had always thought her parents' house was large, but after seeing Leon's house... she was speechless.

The elegant furnishings complement the mansion's architecture.

"If you have no questions, the servant will accompany you to your room," Leon continued as he walked away.

"Wait! Celine murmured, "About your promise..." Her heart is filled with uncertainty. She requests vengeance on her parents, but Celine is at a loss for where to begin.

The people who tortured her were unfamiliar to her, and their connection to her family perplexed her.

"You are now Celine Bridgerton — my wife, so anyone who wrongs you will face my wrath," Leon replied calmly, looking into her eyes.

"That's all I really need..." Celine said this while clenching her fists. Her father and mother's faces were still fresh in her mind after they committed suicide.

"As I promise, as long as you stay in this house, you will get everything you want..." Leon says this before heading to his office.

Celine was escorted to her new room by the servant.

"Is this the main bedroom?" Celine inquired, unconcerned. Leon and she agreed that she would have her own room.

Celine wants some privacy despite the fact that they are married because they have no love. She still prefers to be alone.

"No, ma'am, the main bedroom is opposite this room," the servant explained, pointing to the other side's double door.

Celine couldn't say anything... The room was far too large for her.

It appears I married a billionaire... she remarked as she walked around the room sorting things out.

On the veranda, there is a tea table. There is a piano in the corner next to the bookshelf, and the library is quite large.

"Ma'am, your wardrobe is there," the servant said, pointing to the room's door. "If you require anything else, please let me know—"

"Many thanks... But all I want is to rest," Celine cut the other servant off.

Celine has never been a fan of frivolous things, so the beauty of the room was unimportant to her.

The servant exited the room politely. Celine stepped out onto the veranda by herself and looked around.

Only now does she realize how large the yard is...

If she's not mistaken, they're probably a thousand meters away from the house. The same is true for the opposing party.

"Do I have to be scared of the man I married?" "Who exactly are you, Leon Drake Bridgerton?" Celine murmured in hushed tones.

Celine gets up early the next day. Even though she is not in love with her husband, she understands her responsibilities.

"Ma'am, master Leon has been out since yesterday," Celine's servant replied when she inquired.

Celine ate alone while reading the newspaper, knowing that the man was gone.

"Uncle..." Celine mumbled, her lungs rumbling with rage. When she asked for assistance, her uncle dragged her away while insulting her. Her parents, too, became thieves and committed suicide.

The phone rang for Celine...

Celine responds quickly when she sees Leon's name. "Did you actually do this?" She inquired hastily.

"Hmm... yes..." Everyone who hurts you will pay, I promise..." Leon responds with a chuckle.

"That quick? "How did you accomplish that?"

"Fast? "I have yet to do anything..." Leon laughs from the other side.

"Did I end up marrying a demon?" Celine said this while clutching the phone tightly. Celine is unaware of what is going on in the city because she is living abroad.

"You will find out very soon..." Leon snickers in response.

(END OF FLASHBACK)----------

"Ugh..."

When Leon heard Celine growl, his flashback to the past came to an end.

"You must strengthen your body. You're too weak, so someone will train you once you're healed," Leonn says as soon as Celine opens her eyes.

Celine was still dizzy, but when she heard Leon's distant voice, she forced her body to lean against the headboard of the bed.

"How on earth could you—"

"It's all your fault! I warned you not to leave the yard, but you ignored me! Things like this will happen the next time you disobey me!" Leon cut her words as she stood up. It reflected the tenacity of his will in his eyes. Leon knows he's wrong, but he'll never admit it; Celine needs to know where she fits in.

"I hate you... Leon Drake Bridgerton, I can't forgive you!" Celine cried out, tears streaming down her cheeks.

"Hate me all you want! But Celine White Bridgerton, you're mine! And you can't get away from me!" Leon stated. Celine shivered at that.

"I have come to regret knowing you..." Celine added, her eyes filled with rage.

"If it wasn't for me, you'd be dead! You can hate me all you want! But you can't deny that I gave you a new lease on life! So I can easily deprive you of it!" Leon smirked in response.

"Leave! Get the hell out!" Celine screamed angrily. She snatched the side table's base and hurled it at Leon.

Her heart was broken, but her mighty husband was a jerk to her. Instead of apologizing, he used harsh words.

Leon must have known what she was thinking because he did not persist. He quietly exited the room and proceeded to the counter.

"Damn it!" Leon exclaimed, pouring a glass of Scotch and drowning himself in alcohol.
