Chapter 27

Emma lowered her head, tightening the sheets around Katy.

When the doctor finally got there, there was nothing left to do, but Pietro was so blind and maddened by reality that he forced the man to try to revive her.

But after a few minutes of fruitless work, there was nothing left but to declare Katy dead.

Pietro denied it, he didn't want to believe it. His hands went to his head as he watched the doctor close Katy's eyes forever.

He screamed, kicked some furniture and swore he would kill whoever had done that to his only love.

"Ask them to prepare everything for tomorrow. We'll have a decent wake." Sebastian asked Ramon, the only one not living in complete chaos.

And even though those two men had their differences, there was still something stronger that bound them together.

Ramon nodded, looking just once more at Emma, who remained at the side of the bed, hugging her best friend's body.

Ramon walked away, making a few calls afterward.
