Chapter 82
Nathan’s POV
I hadn’t planned on going into that room. I only meant to grab the damn form and get it signed. But when I saw that one signature missing, Theo’s, of course, I felt a familiar wave of irritation rise in my chest. I didn’t linger. I didn’t ask questions. I didn’t let myself think too hard about what I saw in there.
Not yet.
The door opens behind me, and Mason walks in, casual as ever. He drops into the chair across from my desk and stretches out.
“She’s good,” he says simply. “Happy. Not shaken up by what he did to her.”
I should take that as reassurance. I want to. But the tight coil in my gut doesn’t loosen. Instead, I snap without meaning to.
“The fact that he was done in a few hours tells me he went hard.”
