Valerie Will POV

Jordan dropped me off at the house.

After he left, I asked one of the security men to go over to the restaurant where we had lunch, so he would pick up my car.

I also wanted him to find out what was happening at the restaurant and listen to what people were saying about the incident.

As I stepped into the house, I saw Liam and Noah in the living room. Both of them were so focused on the television that they didn’t even see me walk into the house.

If only they had any idea what just happened.

I wish I had the same peace they had.

I wanted to walk past quietly without disturbing them, but Liam’s voice suddenly cut through the air. “Mama?” He turned his head, his eyes fixed on me.

“Hey.” I forced an awkward smile as I waved at them. “How was school today?” I asked, trying to keep my voice steady.

I couldn’t pick them up because of the incident that happened. I had to call the nanny to help me.
