Chapter 148

Patrick Banks POV

Valerie had been restless about the situation even if I tried to assure her that she wasn’t to be blamed for Charles’s death.

There was only one way I could calm her down — getting her proof that the shooting wasn’t done by Massimo’s men.

He asked me to give him a few days to figure out who was behind the shooting. For some weird reason, I trusted him when he said he had nothing to do with it.

I was on a call with Valerie but she stopped responding.

“Valerie, are you still there?” I asked.

Still no response.

But I could hear muffled voices from the background.

After trying to get her to respond for a few more minutes, I gave up and ended the call. Then I tried calling her again but she didn’t answer.

I let out a deep sigh and tossed my phone on the bed.

I was meant to leave for New York the next morning, so I started packing my bags. The deal I took the trip for had been successfully closed.
