Valerie Will POV

“Can you believe that he threatened to kill himself if I sign the papers?” I said to Celeste as I collapsed on the chair opposite her.

Her eyes grew wide in shock. “What? Is he trying to emotionally blackmail you or what?” She crossed her arms around her chest.

I couldn’t help but laugh even though my chest felt like a knife was piercing through it. “I made it clear to him that his emotional blackmail wouldn’t work.”

Celeste stared at me, her eyes filled with sympathy. “How do you feel?”

I rolled my eyes. “I feel like shit. It’s a good thing I don’t have to go to work this week or I would have been fucked up.”

“You’re a strong woman, you know that, right?”
