Patrick Banks POV

Celeste hated me.

I was the reason she lost her law license.

With just one phone call, I ruined everything she had built. I tore apart her career and reputation when I found out what she did to help Valerie.

I gave her a chance to save herself when I asked her about Valerie’s whereabouts. But she refused to tell me. She was protecting her friend. At least that was what I thought.

I didn’t do it because I was seeking justice, but because I was consumed by rage and bitterness. I wanted someone else to suffer the same way I was suffering.

Celeste wasn’t the reason why my marriage crumbled. But I wanted to push the blame to someone and she turned out to be the perfect scapegoat.

Looking back, I realized that what I did was cruel. But I was ready to help her get her license back if she was willing to help me.

I needed all the information I could get about Valerie.

Out of desperation, I went over to Celeste’s house.
