Chapter 20. Found
Charlotte woke up hours later, groaning in pain. She had not had anything tangible to eat and, as a result, felt weak and unable to heal quickly. She cried out when she felt her ankle snap in pain. There was nothing she wanted more than to be in her mother’s arms, away from the harsh experiences she had had so far. There was no way she’d endure another moment in the hell she had walked into by herself.
She groaned quietly, careful not to make a sound. She needed to get out of there, and she did not care how. She saw an empty bottle of whiskey beside her, and almost immediately, an idea popped into her head. She managed to drag a stick with her tied hands and hit the bottle gently, trying her best to break it into sizable pieces. When she was satisfied with it, she picked up a piece and began working on the ropes. They were thick, but the will to survive was thicker. She scraped her hands a bit, but the pain was nothing compared to what she had endured for the past few days in
