Chapter 23. She Has a Name
His father nodded in approval and continued eating. Mark drank some water and continued eating, not bothering to hide the scowl on his face, which his father wisely ignored.
“You haven’t been to school for days now. Why’s that?” the older man asked, now hitting the nail on its head.
“Didn’t feel like it,” Mark replied, eating his food and not sparing a glance at his father.
“I do not understand. What do you mean by ‘you did not feel like going to school’?” Mr. Liam raised a brow, trying not to raise his voice at his son, who was suddenly making him feel like committing murder. He clenched his fist tightly as he waited for him to talk.
“My head’s not in the correct place at the moment, and me going to school right now would only be a waste of my time and that of everyone’s. Besides, it’s just on Monday and today that I haven’t been in school, so it’s not like I skipped school for weeks.”
