Chapter 26. We’ll Just Have to Survive Tonight
With a blurry vision, Olivia placed the baby gently in his cot and walked to the window, tears flowing uninhibited. She heard a crashing sound and a shriek across the street, so she parted the linen draperies to find out what it was.
“Not robbers, I hope…”
Her fingers trembled, cold seeping through her body from her bare foot.
“Noooo…” she screamed, muffling her voice with her hands to avoid disturbing the baby.
What looked like werewolves, with fur and all, landed on the windscreen of a parked car, breaking the windshield. One was badly hurt, but the other kept lunging at it.
Olivia gulped, fear paralyzing her. Her eyes glistened with unshed tears.
There was blood splattered on the sidewalks, shop doors, billboards, and everywhere else. The streets were now deserted.
