“Why did you just leave?” Liam asked, his voice revealing that he was exhausted. He ran his hand over his face and sighed.

“Because I couldn’t stand one more second in her presence. I was too angry to.”

“Valid. But then, she did say she didn’t remember you. How sure are you that it isn’t true? You could have stayed to poke a little more, you know. Try to see just how much acting she could have been doing. That’s what I believe I would have done. I don’t think I would have just walked away from a woman I had been looking for for five years. That’s just me speaking. Anything could have happened in the past five years.”

“I know that. I just... I was in shock. I still am. I need to think and process my feelings.”

“Alright, but you don’t have a lot of time.” There was silence for a moment, and Dom could hear the wheels of his friend’s brain spinning.

“Just say it,” he mumbled.

“What are the odds? The last girl on the list happened to be your girl?”
