“How dare he?” Tiana’s outraged voice rang through the house, and Gen quickly shushed her.

“Zara’s asleep.”

“Sorry,” she whispered. “How dare he though? That’s very insulting.”

“I know.” Gen responded drily from her position on the couch, where she was seated with her legs crossed under her. “I know.” She sighed.

“Please tell me you at least gave him a piece of your mind because what the hell is that?! Girl, you can’t take that from anybody.”

“I did say a few things.” Gen shrugged. “Perhaps not enough, but I did say something before walking out on him. I just can’t believe anybody would be so rude.”

“I can’t believe he would be so rude.”

“You were rooting for him?”

“I was. I did a whole background check on him. He was my favorite choice. Rich, good-looking, nice according to the net. Turns out he’s a dickhead.”

“You did a background check?”

“Yeah.”

“Why?”

“I was curious.”

“Hmm...” Gen smiled in a “really?”
