Chapter 134. Silent Tension

Ryder looked at Alex and he knew he was going to ask him the very question he was confused about and did not have an answer to but of course, he was the only whom the man could ask about his daughter. He was after all, her husband. So he braced himself for any questions Ryder would be throwing at him.

“What is this I am hearing,” Ryder asked with a stern frown on his face. Even after preparing himself mentally for this, the first question already got Alex stammering as he did not know what to say. Yet, Ryder waited for an answer which was not forthcoming.

“I really don’t understand this myself,” he finally managed to answer, trying hard to maintain his composure. “I am surprised as you are about this sir.”

Alex hoped Ryder would not ask him where he was when it happened because that might worsen the situation. He was still blaming himself for not being home as well.

“But did you notice anything unusual?” Ryder asked him suddenly looking thoughtfully calm now.
