Chapter 159. Delayed Outburst
Bethany sat on the enormous, king-sized bed, her back resting on the pillow positioned behind her and her gaze locked on the digital clock on the nightstand. The numbers shone in the darkness: 12:15 AM. She exhaled deeply, her fingers tapping nervously against the pristine, white sheets. Maxwell had not returned from wherever it was it had gone to since morning.
It was a worrying habit and one that filled her with dread as well especially after what had transpired just a few days before. She stared at her phone, thinking whether to call Sky to ask about her husband’s location.
The thought of it was ridiculous. She shouldn’t have to phone someone else to know where her supposed spouse was. After Maxwell had been kidnapped, Bethany could not help feeling anxious every minute he was late.
By the time it was 12:30 AM, Bethany could not wait anymore. But just as she grabbed for her phone to dial Sky’s number, she heard the sound of the front door open. She had a feeling
