Chapter 174. Weight of Decisions
Alexander sat in the garden of his compound with his friend, Dave. He sat on a wrought-iron bench, the cool metal seeping through his clothes, his gaze distant into blank space. Dave, sat beside him, his eyes filled with concern.
“Alex, how’s Isabella doing?” Dave asked, breaking the silence that had joined them in the garden.
Alexander sighed deeply, his shoulders slumping.
“I would be lying to you if I say she is fine, Dave. She is still devastated over losing the baby. It is like a darkness had fallen over her and it has affected her—our relationship, our home, even her relationship with our son. She is not the same person she used to be.”
Dave nodded, his expression sympathetic.
“I understand what you all must have been going through, what you both are going through. It is a tough time indeed, Alex. But you need to be strong for her and Alan. They need you now more than ever.”
Alexander ran a hand through his hair and his eyes looked tired.
