Chapter 46. Reasons
Isabella was rocking on her feet, unable to stay still. A few minutes ago, she had been pacing but stopped after Alexander had pointed out how nervous it was making him.
The fear rolled off her in waves, making Alexander constantly act as a support to her.
Her long nails had been bitten down to their very roots, her skin felt prickly and uncomfortable, and she simply couldn’t sit still.
“It was a bad idea cutting the call that abruptly,” Alexander pointed out the obvious.
“Wow. I never realized,” Isabella’s voice took on a sarcastic note. “Sorry,” she apologized, slumping against the sofa, mind drifting off to the not-so-great encounter.
