Chapter 45. The Search
“What?” Isabella used a hand to massage her temple, letting it stay.
“We haven’t seen him yet, but that could mean anything.”
“Why would he do such a thing?” her voice had risen an octave. She was frustrated and tired, and this ruined everything else for her.
“Isabella, we’ll find them. Just try to relax,” Alexander stared worriedly at her.
After the news of Isabella’s parents' move reached his ears, he arrived at the mansion quite early in the morning, hoping to catch them. They weren’t available, such that even the worker manning the gates was clueless about their location.
He had sworn they were still inside as they hadn’t yet packed to leave. It took him by surprise, but he pleaded to still take a look inside.
The moment that the worry truly began was when the front door gave way, still unlocked.
Not very much could get past Alexander as he noticed that the lock had been picked; no sign of forced entry, though.
