Chapter 52. Courage

“What’s wrong?” Isabella furrowed her brows.

Alexander was currently glaring at his phone with a fury that could scald even the most hardhearted. He looked anything but happy.

“Alex.”

He slowly raised his eyes to where she was standing, regarding her quietly.

“Are you okay?”

“No.”

“What’s wrong?”

He was walking up the stairs and away from her at this point. It both frustrated and worried her.

“I’ll be upstairs if you need me,” he bounded up the stairs, taking two at a time.

Isabella followed him up regardless.

“I can’t help but worry,” she attempted catching up with him, a difficult feat as his strides were long. “What happened?”

Alexander abruptly stopped walking, almost making her crash into him.

“My father happened,” his face showed how visibly upset
