Chapter 49. Unexpected
I officially let them go. The words kept resounding in Isabella’s head as she performed her nightly duties. She brushed her hair, consciousness detached from her body. Isabella reached for the night dress, realizing the rack was empty.
She rummaged through her closet, on her bed, and in the bathroom, searching for it.
“Where is it?”
A wisp of red caught her attention as she stood upright, sighing frustratedly after it dawned on her that she had been wearing it all this while.
She pushed the duvet aside, slithering into the warmth it provided.
The room was chilly, partly due to the open windows. There was a room heater, but she ignored it. The cacophony of sounds, nature’s night, honking of cars, and distant muffled voices mixed together brought a form of comfort to Isabella. It made her feel less alone.
