Chapter 59. …And A Little More
“Oh my dear goodness, I’m panicking,” Jane paced around the room, a hand held to her stomach.
“Why are you nervous?” Isabella asked incredulously. “I should be the one panicking amongst us.”
Jane waved her off, resuming her pacing.
The guests had arrived, presents in hand as each filed in. So far, the entire expected guests had arrived, except Isabella’s foster parents and Alexander’s real ones.
Secretly, Isabella was glad that Alexander’s parents had chosen not to grace the occasion with their presence. It saved her a lot of mental stress.
She also suspected that the reason for her parents' refusal to attend the birthday party was solely centered on the fact that they still felt the shame of their fall from power clinging to their skin.
Unfortunately for them, the story was old news, and literally no one cared anymore.
