Chapter 62. The Safe Option
“Hey,” Isabella’s eyes considerably brightened up when she saw Alexander sitting at the kitchen island, his laptop placed in front of him as he clicked away.
He looked up briefly, eyes catching with Isabella’s wide ones. A flash of emotion passed through his features, but it was gone just as quickly.
“Hi,” he mumbled out, taking a sip of the black coffee.
Isabella wrinkled her nose in displeasure at his coffee taste before picking it up, walking to the cabinet, and throwing in a generous amount of milk and a bit of sugar. She placed the cup in its previous position.
“That’s better,” she sighed, taking the seat next to his.
Alexander peered into the cup, groaning in disbelief. “You really need to stop doing that,” he turned to face her. “I prefer it black,” he defended.
