Grant’s POV
[At night, Layla’s Apartment]
“You’ve got to be more careful, Grant,” she said to me as the news headline of one of my attacks played in the background from the TV, “it’s too risky to be too predictable,” she added.
“I totally get your point, Layla, but I’ve gotta make the city feel too unsafe for my wife and kids so they can return back to New Orleans,” I said.
“I told you before, your powers are not like those of regular wolves. It’s based on unstable magic and we have to test it out gradually or you’ll hurt yourself,” she said.
“Awwwn, so you actually do care?” I taunted her.
“Don’t flatter yourself, Grant. I only chose to help you because you were the perfect match for the kind of sorcery I practice,” she said and then she tried to get up from the couch. But I held her hand and pulled her back into the couch.
