Hadley looked at Maurice and she wondered what was going on in his head. She knew she could not convince herself that what she did was nothing but she must not believe it.

She can not tie herself to the family by being what they just assumed she was because she would be leaving soon and that was it.

"I don't know what you are trying to believe Mr Elliot but it's definitely not what you are thinking," Hadley says firmly and she avoids Maurice's face.

Maurice looked at the woman that was trying all her might to not keep a gaze with him and he noticed that she was struggling with herself.

"I still think you were different," Maurice says and before Hadley could counterattack Maurice grabbed her hand and Hadley shrieked at the sudden body contact.
