Chapter 24. Hurt and Betrayed

James’ POV

After the Gala, Evelyn and I headed over to the hotel parking lot and all that consumed me was resentment towards Ellie and Ryan.

I felt a wave of different emotions and none hurt like being unable to rise from one’s helplessness.

Evelyn has remained mute and hasn’t said a word to me since we left the gala. One could tell she was pissed and had no excuses for how everything played out earlier.
