Her father is capable, I tell myself. He could kill her if he really wants to. She is looking right at me with her eyes.
"Your parents knew, and I'm sure all the servants did too. They saw you go," I said, raising my eyebrows.
"Yes, but I don't get it. Why would they want to give up that kind of information?" Chantel asks, crossing her arms.
"Maybe for protection?" I suggest, shrugging my shoulders.
"No. Still doesn't explain how Aldric could know." Chantel frowns, tapping her foot. "Unless it was the same person who told Anonymous, who told him. And that's not likely, is it?" She looks at me, waiting for a response.
“Why?” I inquire, curious about her thoughts. Why does she think all the time? She knows too much for her own good. She will eventually understand that her father almost sold her and gave up her life for money.
