Chapter 15. Veronica Is in Danger

"If you say that one more time, I'll kill you myself," I warn my sister with a stern look.

"I'm just saying if anything goes wrong tonight, you can have all my dresses and jewelry." Chantel tries to ease the tension with a smile, but I can see the worry in her eyes.

"Chantel, I swear to God if you don't shut up."

My brother Zave, who joined us briefly, interjects.

"You two are taking things too far. I love both of you and want you to know it."

My two siblings both appear nervous. Chantel struggles to show affection, and Zave is uncomfortable at the thought of losing either of us.

"Listen up, Veronica. Everything will be okay, right?"

Chantel approaches me, ensuring I understand. Despite being the same age, she's always played the role of the older sister. That's why I love her.

"I'll kill the king, and then we'll leave."
