Chapter 251. Ticking Sound

There is a deafening ticking sound—a clock, or perhaps a timer—troubling me for a while now. Sani ignores it; that youngster is odd, not disturbed. He's been my primary attention for the previous three days, keeping myself concerned about and for him to make things simpler.
"Are you certain you don't want more?" Sani asks for the millionth time. Sitting cross-legged in front of me, the cheese is either on his lap or between his legs. He simply needs a tail to be the ideal mouse. "For sure, mousey."
"Stop calling me that!" he complains.
"You have been eating nothing but cheese for the past four days. You cannot blame me."
"I can, and I will."
I roll my eyes at his attitude while smiling a little. He may be unpleasant, but he is also time-consuming. Honestly, that's all I need right now—a nice distraction.
