I can't debate him about it without drawing too much attention, so I neatly follow.

When we get outdoors on the balcony, I pull away from his clutches.

"What is your problem-"

"He is here. Don't lie; I witnessed the entire dance." Rhanes steps closer, his tone revealing a mix of urgency and satisfaction. "I'm pleased I distracted Damon for you."

He did what? Why would he do it for me?

"Why?" I ask, subconsciously taking a few steps back. I'm cautious not to misstep and tumble over the balustrade.

"I didn't want you to get in trouble," Rhanes says, taking a step closer to me.

I frown slightly at his happy expression, "Why am I asking you again?"

He runs his hand through his long hair and grins slightly. "I thought that was clear, wasn't it?"

I shake my head and quickly try to walk away, "It isn't."
