Chapter 38. Smite

Iris’s POV

After returning, I quickly ran to my house and found my father lying down on his bed, weak. I made some tea from the herbs, and it had a strange scent, yet I let him drink it anyway.

He seemed to get a little stronger and then fell asleep again. I decided to let him rest and then go check on Rafael and his father.

I ran out, and it seemed like the village was relatively quieter than usual. Just like my father, everyone else was asleep in their houses, and some were just sleeping on the ground.

This was not normal at all. I had to go check on Rafael. I prayed he wasn’t involved in this whole situation. I made it to the Alpha’s castle only to see Rafael holding his sleeping father in one hand and a knife in the other.

“Rafael! What are you doing?!” I screamed at him. Then suddenly, all four of my cousins, all members of Bloom, were present.

“Don’t interfere, you dunce!” shouted Rose.

“Just let Rafael do this; he is your mate
